Absolute scammers. they booked me a month in advance took a $100 deposit. told me it was confirmed on the phone and sent me an email. now try to claim they have NO RECORD of any booking the receptionish Kristen is incredibly rude and unprofessional. she said my being upset was "bitching" and you could tell she did not care and gave the utmost amount of attitude. beyond nasty. she literally multiple times confirmed on the phone and took my money then tried to gaslight me and say she didnt.
RUN DONT WALK! they left me high and dry two days before.
Now as I try to post reviews I see they had 1.5 starts on yelp and the better business bureau and are LITTERED with terrible reviews about them scamming and lying and being unprofessional.
Some goof recommended them on Reddit and not I’m another victim. I assume now it’s probably fake accounts by the company themselves
I will not ever recommend this company for any move. Both men that came were polite, but only one did the majority of work. I was given an estimate of $550-$850. The total cost came in $1352.23. I did get bag for mattress and two TVs. But I had stretch wrap that they used and they still charged me for. I would have done the stretch wrap myself as I had 4 complete rolls of it.
This move beginning to end should have been max 5 hours but it took 8. As you are charged by the hour $139.00 they should let you know there is a new person, first day & take that into account. Since this company can easily control the hours I would not recommend them. Waiting for a call to discuss that I know will never come.
The three gentlemen that loaded us up were awesome and very diligent on what they were doing. Our move in date was entered incorrectly which caused us a bit of stress but it was corrected. The move into our new residence was ok. One of the movers constantly complained of where we were requesting everything to be put (eg. something we wanted in the basement he kept suggesting that we put it in the garage). He damaged our wall and took about 10 mins before he advised us what happened (even though we saw it happen) along with the floor and scratch to our freezer and also we noticed after the fact that our coffee tables (teak) were damaged with numerous scratches across the top.
Was quoted 4-6 hours for move $775 and ended up paying 10 hours or $2800. The worst part was mover dispatch Mathew. Firstly as I didn’t get my closing key code to new place until around 5:30 pm. He recommended I get a storage unit overnight for my belongings loaded into a 24 foot truck. Then because I had problems getting my debit card to work for such a large amount he told the movers to leave my stuff on the road. Nazi dispatch. Do not use
My property was delivered to me damaged and destroyed. My T.V screen is completely destroyed and doesn’t even come on, my bed and ottoman wheels are missing, my pictures are destroyed and my brand new mattress is soiled. I have tried to call the company (Walter Parfeniuk) but he keeps telling he will talk to the driver and he will call me back. This was hours ago and now all I get is his voicemail. I’m frustrated and don’t even know what to do. I had to pay the entire bill weeks before delivery and now I feel very short changed.
I would highly recommend to avoid this company. We had a beautiful teak wood king size bed from eq3, it was one of our most expensive furniture and the movers completely destroyed the head board and broke it into two pieces. The company initially told us we would get a refund for the bed and not to worry so we could sign the papers and pay them the moving cost but then turns around stating they were not going to cover it and practically gave us barely any compensation compared to the cost of the bed. Now we have been sleeping on the floor for the last month, trying to figure out how to deal with this situation. If you want a professional, honest company who will be careful with your expensive furniture items, PLEASE avoid this company.
Their response to why they can only cover 5% of the cost of the bed is that the compensation is limited by the government. Please show me where the government’s policy states that you are only allowed to pay back 5% of the value of an item you completely shattered. As well if you can direct me to a government contact number so I can speak to them about your company, I would be happy to double check the facts. Your other excuse is to state that we should use our home insurance to pay for our bed, but our home insurance requires us a $1000 deductible so please explain why I need to pay $1000 to fix a mistake your company made.
The company didn't wrap items like it says in their contract. They caused $1000's of dollars worth of damage to our furniture. We tried emailing and contacting them. Barb has been very manipulative. She came to our home and took pictures and said that she will deal with the issues but when we tried contacting her and follow up she didn't answer. We called the company and they just keep telling us to deal with Aly who also does not answer and the last time I called them the woman hung up on me And the only way you can contact Aly is by email and we haven't heard from her. We sent pictures and proof. The woman in the office also hung up on me after she found out who I was. They also told our building manager who called them about damages to the building that we did not use them lol. WOW REALLY?
STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOVING COMPANY! PLEASE READ BETTER BUISNESS BUREAU! the reviews are exactly what happened to us. Wish I read first. Moved from bc to Alberta. Charged flat rate 10,000 dollars. Promised to wrap bed and furniture. Never did brand new furniture beds, tables, bed frames all scratched and dinged. Paid 30 dollars for mattress covers got one and bed was filthy and not even covered right. Left over 4000.00 dollars of our stuff behind, one including a medi lazy boy chair from a medical center value just over 3000. Dollars my mom depended on that chair. When asked what we do with stuff we were forced to leave behind. They shrugged there shoulders and left. Very unperfessional, 7 hours late , phoned us 3 times prior to move to confirm 3 wrong dates. ( I had to record after that and it was to late to hire someone else.) This company cause us a lot of pain and suffering and loss of so many valuable items. They told me to take pictures and get prices. I worked 3 days at looking stuff up on line and phoning around for prices to be told after a week we are not paying you for anything. Then lie and say we offered you storage or another truck and you denied. WHAT! A 3000. DOLLAR CHAIR? We had no choice but to hire someone to clear out what was left behind and take to dump or keep for themselves. Had a lady named Barb dealing with me on phone, told me she will be taking on what happened and dealing with me only to be passed on to 2 other people. The last person I felt with was ALI she was very rude. Sent me same email over and over about our wrecked furniture when I was asking about the furniture we were forced to leave behind. She will not call you. Only deals in emails wich she trys to minipulate you as well. I asked please can you call me 5 mins just so I know we are on same page since she is the 3rd I delt with after this disaster . STAY AWAY! Dont wantvto see this happen to even more people. A NEW HOME SHOULD BE EXCITING NOT THAT STRESSFUL.
Terrible experience, I do not recommend. I chose Two Small Men with Big Hearts based on reviews and word of mouth. This company was not the cheapest quote, but everything was mostly positive, and I wanted to hire people who cared, worked hard, and were proud of their work. Two Small Men with Big Hearts do not care. They will waste your time, break your things, overcharge you, and then direct you to someone to talk to who ultimately just ignores you.
Items Broken: Antique glass table, cabinet, bed frame/missing bed wheel, wardrobe, massage table, 5 moving bags (48 pictures were sent to the company)
Don't use! Save your money that you'll spend on all the things you need to get replaced after the move because it's broken and hire a more expensive company. I have moved numerous times and the worst thing that got broke, ever, was a cheap glass. Until now. I used this company in October because Jay's moving was booked up and I always use them. This time I called two small men. The two men showed up, one was already complaining that he didn't want to get out of bed and he was hurting so much that. This job sucked and he couldn't believe he had two moves to do that day. Seriously? Not my problem and you shouldn't be whining to the person who is paying the bill. The got everything out of the condo and we went over to the new place. They took forever! I sent my boyfriend to go check on them. They smelled like smoke stronger and stronger every time they came back up to the floor we were on. We had an oversized sectional which is our fault but the movers spent a long time getting the two smaller sections in and left the biggest one till the end. Of course, they couldn't get it in. And the whiner of a mover said he knew it wouldn't fit. Then why didn`t you try that section first! He kept raving about how much experience he had and how long he's been doing this and how if he can't move something in then no one would be able to. If you're that smart, then you should've tried that one first. My god. Then we started opening the boxes and I lost numerous dishes and very expensive glasses. Irreplaceable. Of course, they don't cover that stuff under insurance. And yet, I've moved several times like I said, and never ever a problem. It was like they'd been in an accident and my boxes went flying. Everything was wrapped so well. I had asked when I booked th move if they would be putting everything together and I was told yes if you want them to.They left everything apart. The bed, my dresser, the table, everything was up to us. They said they didn't have time and had to get to the next job. The screws were gone from the things that were left apart. Specific screws that work with that furniture so I still haven't been able to find replacement parts. Absolutely horrible. Two drunk high school kids with big trucks could've done a better job. On top of all of it we had to pay $945 most expensive move I've ever done even when I moved 2000km.
Do Not Use These Guys. Our Worst Moving Experience.
DO NOT USE THESE GUYS. Spend a little more and save yourself stress and more cost the day of your move. If there was negative rating I would have given that.
We lived in a 1 bedroom + den condo and don’t have a lot of stuff. We moved ourselves a couple years ago. This year since were having a baby so we got a bigger place and decided to hire movers. Little did we know hiring these movers was a big mistake.
Based on the reviews we read online, we booked our move with Two Small Men with Big hearts. It is true when they say, don’t believe everything you see or read online. These guys probably have written their own reviews. And my apologies to anyone who actually has written legitimate reviews. Its only after our experience with these movers, I dug deeper and found that this wasn’t the first time these movers have extorted people. There is an ongoing court case which was even reported on CBC news. Link: https://youtu.be/s4yXTeLF6R8
At the time of our booking and day before the move they provide excellent client service to make you believe you are good hands. They pretend to be very personable, friendly and warm and make sure everything is good to go. They made follow up calls to ensure everything was in order, they even gave us a reminder call. As this is a condo building, we had limitation with elevator time, so they even recommended the exact time slots to book the elevators in order to ensure timely move from one place to the next. They estimated our total move under 4 hours which is correct as we have seen it done before by PROFESSIONAL MOVERS in one of our previous moves. The estimation and booking were done over the phone itself and no site visit was made. We did ask how they charged and they said, it was by the hour and not the weight (should have seen these red flags).
Day of the move, the movers showed up an hour late and showed no regret or any sense of urgency. Also, the movers that did show up were from a different company (Maple Leaf Movers - Brampton) that works for Two Small Men with Big Hearts and we were never informed about this. Both these moving companies work hand in hand to fraud and extort people on moving day (taking advantage of an already stressful and vulnerable situation). I ensured everything was packed and stored in one room for ease and convenience for the movers. As we were already delayed by them and we were running short on time, we offered to help. Fortunately, my brother was available to help out. The movers were in no sense of hurry. They took their own sweet time to move our stuff to the reserved elevator and to their truck. They just procrastinated in their truck after loading. My wife and I both caught them on several occasions just hanging out in their truck doing nothing and we made it very clear to them every time that we are restricted on time and need to pick up the pace. They did not care and just brushed us off. The same pace and behavior continued throughout and they kept bragging how good of movers they were and had never received any complaints. For every 1 load they moved, my brother and I did 4 loads using a non-reserved elevator. We don’t have a lot of stuff, so what should have taken less than 2 hours, took 4 hours with most of the moving being done by us and not them. And this is just the first phase of the move. They finally finished loading up all our stuff on their truck - or so we thought. They told us that everything from the condo and the storage were all loaded up. In our haste as we were running out of time, we didn’t check. We only realized when we got to our new place that this wasn’t the case. Our entire storage was untouched. At this point, we had already lost over an hour of elevator time at the next condo, leaving us with only 2 more hours. Again, we asked them to pick up the pace but our words fell on deaf ears. The same thing continued, slow pace, my brother and I doing most of the moving, we moved 4 loads to their one load. 1 hour into unloading, their true colors emerged and I have read and heard horror stories of hijacking your belongings. They now demanded that we pay them. We refused and told them that we would pay only when the move was completed and that we will be speaking to their management to sort this out as the move wasn’t done the way it should have been. It is at this point that the horror stories became a reality for us. They shut the truck door on us and threatened us to make the payment or else they would take off with our belonging. My wife and I who were already upset at this point now became furious. My wife called the management and explained everything that had happened and the situation we were in at that point. The same person who we had talked to setup the move who was so friendly and helpful now turned on us and refused to help and hung up on us and wouldn't answer when we called back. We then turned to our movers and tried to convince them to release our belonging and make them realize that what they were doing is illegal and that we would call the cops. That didn’t phase them and kept telling us to pay them. They were so rude, unsympathetic and did not even care for the stress they were putting on my pregnant wife. I demanded to speak to their boss or else I'd call the cops. I spoke to the boss and reported everything that was going on. He was also rude and didn’t care what his workers were doing, all he wanted was money which made me realize that this wasn’t the first time they have done this to people and have been getting away with it. My wife did call the cops and they said that it was illegal for movers to hijack our belongings and that they would send someone over to have them release it. They also advised to report the movers but the fact that we didn’t have an official contract signed because everything was dealt with over the phone made that impossible. Either ways I knew I had no other option but to pay the movers to keep things moving and get this move over with. He quoted me $1200 for the hours spent (or should I say wasted), the truck, and all these other charges. He said, he would give me $100 off for the inconvenience. I refused and told him I wasn’t going to pay more than $500 as the move wasn’t done by his movers but me and my brother and that the amount I’m offering is more than what these movers deserved for the hours they barely worked and truck usage. In additional I also made him agree to have the movers go back for the storage items that were left behind. I know this was still an over payment for grief and stress they caused and the move they did not do, but I had no other choice as he wasn’t going to budge anymore and he finally agreed. Once the payment was made, the movers finally opened those doors and started moving our stuff only to the elevator bank and not even to the condo. During this whole chaotic situation, our moving time slot was over and now we were using the elevator on somebody else’s moving time. Fortunately, they had only a couple loads and we could resume our move. But since our move time was done, we could not have their truck parked in the loading dock. So they considered this an opportunity to take off. I told them that we still need to go back to pick up my storage stuff from the previous place. They hesitated and gave push back but then agreed after I made them confirm with their boss as previously agreed. Again, sloppy, slow paced job continued and they didn’t even clear the entire storage - just the big items. Once loaded, we headed back and all they did was unload the storage stuff on curb outside the building and took off as soon as they found an opportunity while I was moving stuff to the elevators. What should have realistically taken less than 4 hours, took 9 agonizing hours.
Through the whole experience, I had to bite my tongue and keep myself calm, first off to try and get all my belonging from them and secondly get them to move as much as I could. On the one hand I was really upset and furious with what had happened and most of all what they put my pregnant wife through but on the other hand I was also relieved that we got all belonging at an acceptable cost (loss) and that it was finally over. This was our experience with Two Small Men with Big Hearts and Maple Leaf Movers and it was our worst moving experience and a lesson learned.
Unfortunately, there is no proper regulations in place for moving companies and hence there are hundreds of them out there, most of which are unlicensed and fraudulent. Beware of these companies.
Always get an official contract signed and save the receipts at the time of booking as these documents are crucial if you ever get into a situation with these kind of movers. Charges can be filed against them and these companies will be officially listed on Better Business Bureau and Consumer Beware List.

We had a terrible experience using Two Small Men with Big Hearts to move from Saskatoon to Winnipeg in Sept 2018. We were deliberately over-charged and witnessed some extremely dishonest behavior intended to inflate the cost of our move. We would highly recommend that others avoid using this company.
Less than a week before our move we got a phone call from someone in dispatch trying to confirm the pickup time on the wrong day. After a couple of phone calls with this person in dispatch we managed to have him agree to the original pickup date on Aug 31st, after having him tell us ‘we were lucky’ he called to confirm; as if agreeing to do something on the day you agreed to do it was a special favour to us.
The movers that came to our house had no idea that we were moving to Winnipeg. As such they did not create an inventory list and were dumbfounded when we gave them the address in Winnipeg where our stuff was headed once everything was packed up. They waited around the house for about 45 minutes trying to figure out what to do (which they tried to bill us for).
After about a week of not hearing anything we contacted 2SM to try and find out about a delivery date. There were several ‘I will call you backs’ that we had to follow up on before we eventually were told that the movers didn’t have room on their current trip. About a week later we were told our delivery date would be on Thursday, September 13th. On the 12th we were told that the delivery date would actually be the 15th or 16th, on the 15th it became the 17th, and on the 17th it became the 18th.
The night of the 17th we were finally given an updated quote for our move (estimated at 2400lbs @ 60cents/lb) as being 4000lbs. Our quote increased by approximately $1000 over the initial estimate. This seemed very unlikely since we had intentionally moved all of our heaviest objects (books, etc.) in our own cars to cut down the cost of our move. We expressed this to Keelan who had been dealing with billing and requested a rescaling in front of us. We were told that there was a rescaling fee ($250 - even though the actual cost iss $15-20 at Petro Canada) and that in his opinion based on pictures and the list of furniture he thought it was likely an accurate weight.
The most blatant and clear evidence of this company’s dishonesty came during the rescaling process; we watched the driver of the truck weigh in with himself and the 2 other movers in the vehicle. After our move all three of them hopped out of the truck for the final weigh in. They clearly tried to do this quickly and without us noticing, but we saw this sketchy behavior and confronted our driver on it. When we pointed this out he quickly told us that the 2 movers weighed 400lbs, so it was clear he knew the scam he was running. That scam alone would have cost us $240+tax if we didn’t notice it and call him out on it. The driver himself was also out of the vehicle for the weigh in, but later claimed he got back in the truck in time to be weighed.
The re-weigh came in at 2800lbs (after removing 400lbs for the movers hopping out), which was 1200lbs (or $720+tax) more than they had tried to charge us. We were never shown the original ‘4000lb’ weigh-in, which I’m quite sure was just a made up number that they used in a deliberate attempt to overcharge us. When we confronted our driver about this ridiculous discrepancy he mumbled something about how they had a full tank of gas in Calgary and now they were near empty, which makes absolutely no sense on why we were so grossly overcharged on a move from Saskatoon to Winnipeg. He said that ‘sometimes these things just happen’ and that it was only the 2nd time in 5 years that this had happened. It was just lies upon lies coming out of his mouth to try and make excuses for being called out on blatantly trying to overcharge us.
I recently hired this company to move on feb 16. I would like to give a higher rating because the movers Devon, Aaron and Adrian were amazing. Great guys, very professional they knew exactly what they were doing.During the move the hardware to my refrigerator door went missing rendering my refrigerator useless. I’m pretty reasonable. I get that things happen, somehow in the chaos the hardware went missing. My issue is the poor follow up, lack of communication and assistance from the owner/main office.
I cannot count how many times I have called inquiring about the missing parts always being told someone would get back to me. No one EVER did. I even called and left a message that I have found an appliance place that will order me the missing hardware could the moving company reimburse me. No response.
On top of all this I moved my moving date from Saturday to Sunday at their request. Because of bad weather and they had fallen behind with their booked moves so I accommodated their request. I was told I would get a $50 off my moving bill for doing this. I didn’t get that either. Disappointing.
I used this company for my recent move from an apartment to a townhouse as my family has previously had good experiences with them. NEVER AGAIN!! The damaged some of my furniture that was in perfect condition prior to my move (crack in shredder, footprint on top of desk from them standing on it, box marked fragile moved upside down, other items damaged/dirty/broken). Overcharged originally. Was called next day to advise refund being given for overcharge but never received updated receipt. Did not deliver my snow shovel to my new address (in the middle of cold, snowy Feb). Advised man that called about overcharging of missing shovel. Promised would look into it and call me back, never happened.
I submitted a review that I was sent to my email a week after move and requested call back to go over issues. Never received call back.
Only after calling for over a week did I get a very generic sounding email from after service manager Ali saying that "customer service is our number one priority" and to give more details about the move and issues. Email sent to her requesting her to call me back again and going over everything. Been over 1 week since that was sent (and 4 days since email sent advising that if I don't hear back from her I would be finding other ways to get my issues resolved, up to and including going to Better Business Bureau) and still no response from her. If "customer service is their number one priority", you would think their after service manager would be able to pick up a phone!!
Do yourself a favor and go with another moving company that actually knows what customer service is!
Contracted work to sub-par moving company without any disclosure and wont honour deposit refund when no services were used. I contacted Two Small Men as I did my research and read good reviews on July 21st for a move from AB to BC. Walter quoted me 2400 for a 1 bedroom apartment move, and said they were available those dates and the mover would call me. I got a call from Ron stating he was from Two Small Men also that he was super busy and hopefully he could make the date of pickup July 28. He began to complain that he would have to store my things and that he doesn't have time. I ended up calling him back and he answered this time as "Buhler's moving company" and when he realized it was me he was uncomfortable after just stating he was a different company. Due to unforeseen circumstances I was not able to secure my home purchase and asked for a refund of my deposit. That is when Walter proceeded to ask for my bank documents to confirm that and kept asking for personal information such as my realtors contact info , I told him time and time again I was not comfortable disclosing my information to them, especially bank documents. Regardless of that, when I researched and reviewed "Buhler's moving" I realized they had numerous 1-star horrible nightmare reviews of people being double charged without consent, to lost, stolen, late and broken items. I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied how I was kept in the dark about the "real movers" and furthermore how I was hounded for personal information and bank documents regarding a home purchase from a moving company, especially not even the moving company that they said. Stay away from these two moving companies they have had numerous law-suits and complaints.
We call this the move from hell and moving nightmare. Before the move we had emailed them the exact number of big furniture and the size of the house. The day of the move two men showed up and told us that the truck that they had was too small for the move. We were surprized since we had emailed the exact size of the house and the number of items to be moved. After an hour one of the mover guys came to us and said that they broke my daughter’s bed in the move, we were upset but we thought these things happen. I saw them how careless they were with our furniture and how they were shoving them into their truck. When we got to the new home they themselves kept letting us know about the furniture and bookcases that they scratched and broke. By then we were pretty upset. Also the movers told us that they are not professional movers and they had been with the company just for a few months. I had so many nightmares since then, about how awful that move was and I am still shaken by that and can’t get over it. We had purchased the insurance for furniture damages from this company as well. The only person that deals with the insurance is Ali and she is extremely inefficient. We have claimed for the insurance two and a half months ago and we are still waiting for a proper response. They are not dealing with this situation properly at all. My husband has lost so many hours out of his job just to deal with this situation and communicate with Ali and so far it has been fruitless.
I ask whomever is reading this please don’t put yourself through what we have been through with this company. Find a better moving company and you save yourself from lots of headaches and agonies.
They screwed me over big time. I have never been more disappointed with my experience with a company, or more frustrated in their response after I brought my issues up. They showed up on time, and that was pretty much the last thing that went right. At the end of the day, they tried to bill me $1600 for a small two bedroom apartment, left me with some damaged property they are refusing to do anything about, and left multiple large items in my apartment. Do yourself a favour and spend 30 seconds looking at why they have been in the news so much, and hire literally anyone else.
We were quoted 900.00 max for our move we were charged 1308.00. Furniture destroyed and a piece of art broken(they ripped open the box and shoved other things inside breaking my expensive art piece)
Ali deals with the claims after the fact and has been responsive but is not listening to our concerns!! He/she refuses to speak on the phone it is email only!! I am a claims adjuster so I find this preposterous!!
One gentleman had a serious drug problem and was rude and didn't listen to a damn thing we said!! One guy got sick and left within the first hour. They hung around on their truck to "make more time" we were ripped off and now being treated poorly by their claims dept!!
Complaint made to BBB and looks like we are heading to court I'm not standing for this!!
We have moved many times within the city of Calgary but this was the first, and I hope the only time we will move across Canada. I did not know how long distance movers worked and relied on internet searches to pick a mover. One review stated that 2 Small Men With Big Hearts was one of the largest movers in Canada. I assumed that since they were a large company they would have a level of quality and consistency that a smaller company may not. That could not have been further from the truth. First of all they are not a large company and may in fact be just the 2 men with a few employees. They have no actual movers or trucks of their own at least for long distance moves, and sub contract everything to a trucking company. The ones that moved us were from Collins Mehling Transfer. This means they have absolutely no control over the people that show up at your house to move your belongings. Maybe that isn’t normally a problem, but in the middle of a pandemic it certainly was. The crew of [EDIT] that showed up at our door without any warning ( we had been assured they would give us at least 3hrs notice ) refused to wear a mask in our house even though I had been assured by Walter (one of the 2 men that own 2 small men ) that it wouldn’t be a problem. I believe he knew from the start that it would be a problem, but once they have your large downpayment there is really nothing you can do. As I said we were given no notice even though we were told on 3 separate occasions that we would, so when they showed up unannounced we were caught off guard and scrambled to finish last minute packing while a half dozen idiots wandered around our house with no masks. I should have sent them away, but there was no time to make other arrangements. The driver who seemed to be in charge kept walking right up to my wife to talk to her and couldn’t even honour our request to keep his distance. My family wore masks but of course that only really protects them from us. They had no interest in protecting us from them. What was the most infuriating was that they refused to wear a mask because the pandemic was a hoax and masks were killing people.
The day they loaded our belongings was a very bad day, and hoping to avoid the same situation when they showed up at our new house to unload I tried to make arrangements with the owners of 2 small men to hold back a small amount of the balance owing to insure the people dropping off our furniture would respect us and wear a mask in our house. 2 Small Men requires payment in full before they unload any of your furniture and they would not even consider a hold back . 3 months after our move I know why they get their money first. We have given up hope that we will ever recover a few of our things. And one bin that was not ours was left with us. We told 2 Small Men that we had something that did not belong to us but they did nothing about it and we finally contacted the owners of the bin ourselves and they came and got it.
I have very little good to say about 2 Small men but after a lot of negotiating with Andrew ( the other owner ), he assured me that he had hired a special crew to unload that would wear masks. I can’t believe it took so much effort during a pandemic to get people to do that one small thing to protect us but it was definitely worth it. The crew that came to unload were intelligent, polite and considerate and respected us and our home and we would like to thank them very much.
Except for the crew that unloaded our experience with 2 small men was not good and I would advise anyone that uses them to get everything in writing and insist on a hold back amount. Otherwise you have absolutely no control over the process and 2 small men does not care enough about customer service to leave it up to them.
Awful experience with our recent Port Moody move. We were scheduled in for a 9-10am time slot and they didn't show up until 3pm. The two movers complained throughout the move that they had already done one that morning and weren't supposed to be the ones doing ours but other movers had called in sick - they also complained about moving things up or down stairs because they were sore from previous move. Were charged normal rate even though movers were 6 hours late and when I emailed in to express my disappointment with the service, I had customer service ask me to detail the full experience which I did right away. Have followed up two weeks later since I heard nothing back and still no reply. Absolutely would not recommend this company.
Worst experience I’ve ever had with movers. The worst moving company. I do not recommend anybody use their service.
First thing one of the movers did before starting to work was ask to use the washroom, but then I realize he’s taking a stinky number 2 in my washroom. They wasted time talking, they didn’t have the proper tools and were ill prepared to complete the move. The movers also offered to make side deals for cash under the table which showed their employees integrity.
While on the clock they took smoke breaks which breezed into our new home where my 2 yr old could inhale the fumes. They packed the truck completely disorganized which had me worried about my possessions. Then oh wait what a surprise they cracked my 75 inch tv and their basic insurance only pays $60.
When the movers are leaving, the same guy asks to use my new unused bathroom but this time my wife said hell no. They stacked boxes clearly labeled don’t stack and they moved our fragile glass wear with little care. Then they forgot to unpack a cushion for our love seat and they didn’t return it for several days but when we do get it back it stinks like smoke so bad that its has to be replaced (yes that bad).
I am not pleased to share our horrible experience with Two Small Men With Big Hearts Movers but I can’t let you have the same thing happen to you. They exercised zero duty of care and barely any accountability for the damage that they caused. They will put any mistakes they make on you and tell you to use your home insurance which will up your premiums. Needless to say I do not recommend anybody use this service but if you do buyers beware of this untrustworthy company.
I had some disturbing issues resulting from my move that I tried to resolve with the company - but after airing my concerns - the customer service person went silent. Nothing was resolved. Here is a list of my grievances:
- quoted a fair price, but due to lack of planning on the mover's part, the price of the move increased significantly as the truck driver allegedly could not get into a very large receiving area. Moving company kept goods hostage until I agreed to pay an extra $1000.
- movers would not wear masks and the building management of the building into which I moved made a claim against me for hiring movers who would not comply with building and provincial covid rules.
- the mover did not leave me the weigh tickets and when I finally tracked them down two weeks after the move, the weight of my move was a thousand pounds more than the quote even though i moved only 3 pieces of furniture (when I was quoted for 6 pieces) and the same number of boxes which i was quoted for. Sketchy calculations in that the mover took several hours between loading and weighing the load, and little explanation of the difference between quote and actual weight.
- movers moved a bag belonging to someone else into my home and proceeded to harass me verbally by text until they could get their bag back. I was out of province and was unable to accommodate them immediately. After the move, the company did nothing to apologize for, or make amends for, their employee's unprofessional and disturbing behaviour.
All in all, my belongings arrived to the destination safely - so if that is all you care about, this mover is fine. However, If you are looking for a fair price and a company who appears to care about your experience and strives to do better, this is not the company for you.
I have reason to believe that one of the movers stole a piece of jewelry from my desk drawer during the move. They were the only ones apart from myself that had access. Apart from that, the booking was a nightmare. I was initially booked for a move with 3 guys over 3 days. That was slowly whittled down to 2 guys over 2 days. The actual move was 11+ hours and no unpacking was done as I had initially requested.
We hired two small men with big hearts to move from northern Alberta to central Alberta. The crew from Grande Prairie came out to pack up our belongings and they were 3 young guys with absolutely no experience on how to pack. They only filled the boxes half full or maybe 3/4 so the boxes were all caved in and items were broken and damaged when they arrived. They were supposed to be there for a minimum of 9 hours to pack us up and they ran out of boxes after 4 hours. Also, because they only packed the boxes half or 3/4 full they used twice as many boxes than needed and we had to pay to rent another 5 ton truck to move all of our stuff which ended up costing us $10,000 for the move instead of the quote of $5000.
That was only part of the issues we were running into. There is absolutely no communication between the people organizing the move and the movers.
The owner in Calgary did compensate us $1000 for some of the issues we had half way through our move but in the end that was only a small portion of our many expenses that were incurred by poor management.
The radio ad and Internet state that they use experienced trained professionals but that is far from the truth.
A lot of our stuff was damaged. All our furniture was marked up! We have never used a moving company before and I have never had that many damages.
Only a couple of guys in the second truck were experienced in moving and thank goodness for them.
The insurance they offer to cover damage is a joke!
So needless to say we would never recommend this company!
Initially, I wrote a great review and feedback for the movers that came and was happy with the service I received, I will leave the original review at the bottom for reference.
We have used 2 Small men to move our duplex to a new bigger house,
The movers tried to move our treadmill as required. They attempted to disassemble the machine (We all know it's impossible to carry a full-size treadmill as is), after messing with the treadmill for a half-hour, they came up and told us that they don't have the tools to take the treadmill apart. Therefore they won't be able to move the treadmill. I was very understanding and told them that I would go back with a friend to bring the treadmill to our new place.
I took a day off from work to go back with my friend to see that the movers had lied to us. They have stripped each one of the bolts on the treadmill to the point that it's not possible to take them out and disassemble the treadmill (And this is why they didn't take the treadmill with them). We tried different technics and wor for hours. We sold the house, and the new family asked us to remove the treadmill before taking possession. I lost a treadmill and many hours of work. The issue is far from getting resolved.
This is the response i have received from the manager. As for now, she is refusing to speak to me over the phone and\or come to any understanding.
I'm currently in the process of getting legal advice.
"Hi Ohad,
After speaking with the crew members they have informed us that they did not attempt to disassemble the treadmill. Derek had immediately realized that he did not have large enough tools for the hardware on the treadmill and had informed you of this.
