Move from hell

Do. Not use this company

Was quoted 4-6 hours for move $775 and ended up paying 10 hours or $2800. The worst part was mover dispatch Mathew. Firstly as I didn’t get my closing key code to new place until around 5:30 pm. He recommended I get a storage unit overnight for my belongings loaded into a 24 foot truck. Then because I had problems getting my debit card to work for such a large amount he told the movers to leave my stuff on the road. Nazi dispatch. Do not use

Two Small Men with Big Hearts - Terrible, do not recommend

Terrible experience, I do not recommend

Estimate: $1000-$1300

Time Estimate 5-7 hours

Final Time recorded 8.75 hours

Final Cost: $2234 (Plus $150 Cash)

Insulting Compensation offers: $468.06 (For negligence, poor performance, and broken items)

Money sent to me: $0

Terrible experience, I do not recommend. I chose Two Small Men with Big Hearts based on reviews and word of mouth. This company was not the cheapest quote, but everything was mostly positive, and I wanted to hire people who cared, worked hard, and were proud of their work. Two Small Men with Big Hearts do not care. They will waste your time, break your things, overcharge you, and then direct you to someone to talk to who ultimately just ignores you.

Items Broken: Antique glass table, cabinet, bed frame/missing bed wheel, wardrobe, massage table, 5 moving bags (48 pictures were sent to the company)

Long distance move

Kudos to the Calgary and Edmonton crews for getting me moved out on Thursday and in to my new place yesterday. Chris, Hamid and Monty from the Calgary office were efficient and checked in with me throughout the process. My driver Monty arrived as planned the next morning and with Matt’s help, got my goods safely down into my basement apartment. All crew members were helpful and cheerful, making a stressful process so much better!

I highly recommend this company. From quote to delivery- 5 Stars?

Know what you're getting into

We went with Two Small Men because they were recommended on RBC's moving app (MoveSnap - discontinued as of August 2023). We should have done our own homework. Although they were quick to provide a quote and the movers were personable, there were several problems. 1) They charged us for a heavy item(300lbs) even though when we looked up the item's weight on the net it was only 200 pounds. We had not signed off on this charge. They did refund us the $100. 2) They broke a ceiling light in our old place and said that it fell under the "risky tasks/unique items" waiver, so would not replace it. They also broke one of the lamps they moved and scratched several items. Since they are paid by the hour they have no incentive to be efficient (we were quoted 2 movers, 1 truck and 3 hours and it took 4 movers, 2 trucks and 11 hours). Since they shift ALL liability to you for damage to your old place, new place, and the items they move, they have no incentive to be careful.

Got screwed

Called 2 weeks before my move. Asked for packing and moving. Told them I’m disabled and can handle about %95 of the packing but space and my limitations meant I couldn’t do the last %5. They cancelled the packing, they started loading the truck and only mentioned it after I asked. I was not told on either of the confirmation calls it was being cancelled nor was I even asked about it even though the owner said the form said I might need packing. Maybe confirm what’s needed in those confirmation calls? Then I was blamed by the owner for not complaining, as well as the office girl screwing up. I did my part. Arranged the service, explained my limitations and requested the help. It’s not my fault that I didn’t call to immediately complain, I was busy moving and was told it was cancelled and not that I could complain and someone would come. Called on the Monday morning, my move was Saturday morning and I was exhausted from dealing with their screwup, and asked about help moving my stuff. Nope. Just blamed me for not complaining and the office girl for not doing her job. If you have any physical limitations or need to move %100 of everything reliably that day, go elsewhere. They’ll just screw you over and blame you. I’m lucky that I owned both properties, but if I was renting I’d have been screwed trying to move all the stuff they refused to do last minute. Have used this company in different cities across the country. Never again and I will never EVER recommend this company to anyone with any kind of disability in Regina. They’ll just take advantage, blame you and make you pay full price while leaving you hanging trying to sort out your move.Get a friend with a truck. At least it’ll be reliable.

Damage Exclusion Policy Literally Excludes Everything

Despite the driver admitting fault (driving on a terrible road at high speed) I had a stand-up dresser arrive in pieces. Their policy does not cover that. In fact, their policy is so extensive that almost everything is excluded from coverage. This means that they can destroy everything you own and owe you nothing for it, and you'll still have to pay for the move. They claim it is "industry standard" but that's a scam way of saying "absolute bare minimum" and there are companies that go above and beyond to cover damage they actually do; this is not one of them.

Using this company means your entire household will be at unrecoverable risk. Consider this before using this company.

Also, how hard is it to remove the drawers and pack the dresser on its top to inhibit damage? Absolute carelessness.

One Bedroom Move

I will not ever recommend this company for any move. Both men that came were polite, but only one did the majority of work. I was given an estimate of $550-$850. The total cost came in $1352.23. I did get bag for mattress and two TVs. But I had stretch wrap that they used and they still charged me for. I would have done the stretch wrap myself as I had 4 complete rolls of it.

This move beginning to end should have been max 5 hours but it took 8. As you are charged by the hour $139.00 they should let you know there is a new person, first day & take that into account. Since this company can easily control the hours I would not recommend them. Waiting for a call to discuss that I know will never come.

Horrible Experience.

My property was delivered to me damaged and destroyed. My T.V screen is completely destroyed and doesn’t even come on, my bed and ottoman wheels are missing, my pictures are destroyed and my brand new mattress is soiled. I have tried to call the company (Walter Parfeniuk) but he keeps telling he will talk to the driver and he will call me back. This was hours ago and now all I get is his voicemail. I’m frustrated and don’t even know what to do. I had to pay the entire bill weeks before delivery and now I feel very short changed.

Unprofessional and dishonest company

I would highly recommend to avoid this company. We had a beautiful teak wood king size bed from eq3, it was one of our most expensive furniture and the movers completely destroyed the head board and broke it into two pieces. The company initially told us we would get a refund for the bed and not to worry so we could sign the papers and pay them the moving cost but then turns around stating they were not going to cover it and practically gave us barely any compensation compared to the cost of the bed. Now we have been sleeping on the floor for the last month, trying to figure out how to deal with this situation. If you want a professional, honest company who will be careful with your expensive furniture items, PLEASE avoid this company.

Their response to why they can only cover 5% of the cost of the bed is that the compensation is limited by the government. Please show me where the government’s policy states that you are only allowed to pay back 5% of the value of an item you completely shattered. As well if you can direct me to a government contact number so I can speak to them about your company, I would be happy to double check the facts. Your other excuse is to state that we should use our home insurance to pay for our bed, but our home insurance requires us a $1000 deductible so please explain why I need to pay $1000 to fix a mistake your company made.

Do not use this service

The company didn't wrap items like it says in their contract. They caused $1000's of dollars worth of damage to our furniture. We tried emailing and contacting them. Barb has been very manipulative. She came to our home and took pictures and said that she will deal with the issues but when we tried contacting her and follow up she didn't answer. We called the company and they just keep telling us to deal with Aly who also does not answer and the last time I called them the woman hung up on me And the only way you can contact Aly is by email and we haven't heard from her. We sent pictures and proof. The woman in the office also hung up on me after she found out who I was. They also told our building manager who called them about damages to the building that we did not use them lol. WOW REALLY?
